In a significant development during the ongoing IPL season, the Rajasthan team manager fined headline has drawn attention after a breach of league protocols. Rajasthan Royals’ team manager Romi Bhinder has been penalized ₹1 lakh by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) for using a mobile phone inside the team dugout during a match.
The incident occurred on April 10 during Rajasthan Royals’ clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Bhinder was seen using his phone while seated in the dugout, with young player Vaibhav Suryavanshi sitting beside him and reportedly glancing at the screen. As per IPL regulations, mobile phones are strictly prohibited in the dugout area to maintain the integrity of the game.
According to reports, Bhinder clarified to ACU officials that the violation was unintentional and without any malicious intent. He issued an unconditional apology, accepting his mistake. Bhinder, who has been associated with the franchise since 2008—the year Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural IPL title—was found to have breached IPL Code of Conduct rule 4.1.1.
He also informed officials about suffering from a Type-2 lung-related illness, which was taken into consideration. As a result, authorities decided against harsher disciplinary measures and imposed a financial penalty instead.

Team officials are permitted to use mobile devices only inside the dressing room, not in the dugout. Bhinder has been strictly warned to avoid repeating such an error.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals are enjoying a strong campaign, having won four out of their five matches and currently sitting near the top of the points table. Their next fixture is scheduled for Sunday at Eden Gardens against Kolkata Knight Riders.
